Midlas was the difference in being able to succeed in my application. Without the spirit and fight of my advocate it would not have happened. The centre is underfunded and under-resourced. The passionate people who are a difference in our community get burnt out. This is a critical function for the every day person to get help. It needs better funding.

If you want to be educated on anything from finances to legal matters, I would definitely recommend Midlas to any and all people as they will teach you things and show you opportunities that you’re not even thinking about.

This is one business that is definitely helping the people of the community and in times like wearing today I feel they’re only going to be more beneficial to a lot more people.

To definitely do yourself a favour if you’re in any kind of financial situation and go on tour to a representative here, because they definitely get you to look at things in a different way.

I was recommended to Midlas and Rita by a friend. My first contact was with Rita. Rita made time to see me pretty much straight away. Every communication with Rita and her assistant Emma was perfect. Having Rita and Emma represent me through a tough time was amazing and can't thank them enough. Midlas and there team provide an essential service to those in need. They treated my mother ever so lovely at first, she was being assured of support through her legal matter /mediation with her previous landlords, the service advocator confidently gave my mum totally reassurance she was being assisted through the process ( this worker even came up with the figure she deemed appropriate to settle on in the mediation session between the landlord's. This woman was going to handle it my mum didn't even need to be at the mediation so she said! 2 days after this mediation session between Midlas work and landlords my mum went into the office asking to speak to this "woman" after the fact she received emails stating she was suppose to be at the mediation and that the outcome due to her absence was her paying the entirety of amount wanted by said landlords. My mum was told by a very disgustingly obnoxious woman at the front desk that she couldn't speak to her case worker that her case was closed, she repeated that phrase several more times as my mother tried to through her shock and confusion explain she had other matters she needed assistance with ( housing) and could she not get in to see anybody? YOUR CASE IS CLOSED this woman repeated again! My mum was left distrot, confused and left feeling less than a human being. No explanation as to why she could no longer see anybody or why she was so abruptly dismissed completely from their service and support. Absolutely appalling this woman/ women need thier jobs revoked, the service itself has something to answer for! Community service at its lowest.

Have been suffering from a physical disability & failing memory. MIDLAS was the only disability advocacy group that seemed to even care, and helped my wife & I through everything. Cannot express how satisfied I am with their services, how friendly & knowledgeable they are, and how they never gave up on us no matter the difficulty of my circumstances.

Liz is an absolute angel and helped us through every step, going above and beyond in her duties, with compassion and wisdom. Not once did she make my wife & I feel like a burden or turn us away as so many government agencies did. We Could not recommend MIDLAS any higher, and sincerely wish they were given a larger spotlight & budget to expand their services, as they are more useful than every other service we've dealt with, combined. If more organisations were like MIDLAS, Australia would be a much better place.

Completely disgusted by the treatment of this advocacy service. I had been referred to them by the Disability Gateway, being a abuse survivor with PTSD I went to ask for some simple advice on Tenancy Law. I was confronted by a rude women who wouldn’t even allow me to finish my question and advised me to “slow down” even though I was hardly allowed start or finish one sentence. Then she went on to say she has no time, get to the point with 10 minutes of the conversation, it was one question. I booked this call a week before, why so rushed if it was booked? These people should not be dealing with vulnerable people on the community if they have no time or patience to even deal with people with disabilities in any normal or respectful manner. Good luck fixing your terrible services.
