I recently used the tax advisory services here. After 30 minutes, my wife and I concluded the meeting - she would have had us leave earlier, but the sheer randomness of the advice being provided compelled me to ask more questions out of curiosity. Approximately 15 minutes into the meeting the tax advisor attempted to walk back 15 minutes of advice that had no relevance to our financial situation. They then admitted they were ‘scattered’.
They also needed to be corrected on published superannuation concessional contribution caps for the current financial year.

These matters were raised with a Director of WFS. They indicated that they were confident in the experience and knowledge of the Senior Tax Advisor but could not clarify the advice provided in the meeting, despite it being requested in writing. A trivial discount was offered on the services with the threat of debt collection involvement.

Given my tertiary qualifications in taxation and my wife's previous employment as a para-planner in a boutique financial services firm, we found the entire experience very poor. During the intervening period we have sought alternate taxation advice from a professional firm which has reaffirmed our views that a lack of competence was apparent and quality control after the fact was absent. We would not recommend these services and have made representations to the TPB about their conduct.
