Bought 2 polo shirts yesterday from Rivers Maitland. Decided I needed to upgrade the size and knowing they had plenty of this type of shirt in stock I went back with the shirts and receipt. Was told quite abruptly by the person behind the counter that you can't exchange... (wait for it) because 'the computer wont let them do it'.
Same shirt, plenty in stock to exchange but 'Computer says NO'

All some good bargains to be had at Rivers who don't need to wear certain fashion brands, or even if it's something comfortable to wear around the house. Lots of shoe options as well.

They tell you that they don't do refunds on clearance items, but on the docket, they are called a clearance super centre! The company needs to read up on Australian consumer law. Clothes are pretty good and some good deals on shoes if you can get the right size.

Great product and really awesome prices. Good quality stuff! Service is fantastic. Rivers Head office if you see this they need new aircon in that shop, it's terribly hot in there. It's very uncomfortable as a customer, so I'd hate to think what it's like as a staff member.

I really like Rivers and their clothes (Super Comfortable), they always have a good bargain and Staff are super friendly! The only thing I would recommend is better cooling facilities i understand its such a large warehouse but shopping in there is not great... when its an extremely hot day! I am sure the staff would be appreciative it! as they have to work in it!!

Purchased a pair of 3/4 pants at this store. When I put them on at home to wear out I found a tear in the seam on one of the legs. When I returned them to the store I was told to pick another pair. I went and was looking through the rack when the sales woman approached me and asked where were the tags. I explained that the tags were cut off when I put them on. They were the right size and I had the receipt I didn't think I needed the tags to exchange a faulty item. She then told me Rivers policy is not to exchange without tags and that this was inline with Australian consumer Law. She said I would have to check the new pants carefully because they wouldn't exchange or refund anything without the tags. I couldn't understand why the tags were nessacary when the pants were faulty it's not like they can sell them. Anyway I got my new pants even though she told me it would get her into trouble (not my problem).
I checked you don't need tags to return a faulty item according to Australian consumer Law. You just need proof of purchase which I had. After this I will not be returning to Rivers to shop anymore.

Rivers isn't the same since it was taken over by another company. The prices are too high and the clothes are not what I've come to like about Rivers clothing. Don't think I'll be going back, which is sad because I used to love shopping at all Rivers stores.
