I accepted that this company was not up the task of getting a trademark through to approval and I moved on with running my businesses.

Before the work started they quoted fees that would be involved in their service and these fees were accepted and paid as they were due and the work progressed.

Weeks later they issued a fresh invoice for an unknown cost that I disputed, and they replied basically affirming to me that they needed to charge us just under $500 more for the service of "confirming that the examination was not successful, and asking if would you like us to keep trying?"

I disputed this cost and they replied with paragraphs of legal jargon and continued to start proceedings against me.

Unfortunately I am too busy to take it further.

I wish they were half as competent at using the law to do their job as they are at using it to extract fees from their clients.

Absolutely terrible service and questionable ethics.

Over a year ago I was referred to IP Gateway where I was working with a great lawyer to begin with.

Unfortunately, this lawyer left the firm and I was handed over to another lawyer regarding a patent application. Long story short, I was charged an up front fee of $10,000 to submit a Patent Application and have since been sent invoices for follow up emails and a letter that was forwarded from the government 6 months down the track. There was no warning of future invoices and you'd expect with such a large upfront payment, that an email at the end of the process would be part of the initial service paid for.

Very disappointed after spending $20,000 in total with this particular firm that I am being charged for follow up emails.

After trying to rectify this issue with the lawyer directly and privately, I was basically told to deal with it and that he wouldn't waive the charges because it took him "time to read and file the letter from the government."

Would highly recommend questioning any future/sneaky charges you may receive after being given a large quote to begin with.

Will be taking my services elsewhere.
