I would give Macquarie Bank 5 stars for competitive rates and good online banking, great authenticator app which allows me to do banking worldwide. The only problem is, if there is a glitch in the online banking, you are directed to live chat to resolve it, no human call centre. There, the problem starts. Live chat queue is long. And you can't do other things while in the queue because if you leave the screen for more than 3 minutes of inactivity, you get booted out of internet banking and lose the queue. And while on live chat, I can see the consultant typing and the to and fro of us typing and waiting for each other, I can't help thinking, wouldn't this have been a lot faster on the phone? Wouldn't Macquarie have to hire more consultants for live chat because of the added inefficiencies? And inefficient for me too, because I can't just leave my phone on hold and do other work, instead I have to eyeball the online banking page to make sure I don't get booted out, to wait for the live chat to be typed out ....... The minimum Macquarie can do is some coding (a) to ensure that while we are in the queue for live chat, the website doesn't boot us out after 3 minutes of inactivity and (b) make a little ding sound when the consultant comes on?

As an experienced banking staff. All I can say is this bank clearly violated customer’s rights. They blocked all my accounts for the entire Christmas without giving a proper reason. They hate Christmas. How come an anti-Christmas bank operating in Australia?

Macquarie Bank has said that I owe money, but won't give me information on how to pay, despite me confirming my identity, the rego of the car and the VIN of the car. This is stopping me from gaining finance anywhere else and helping to trash my credit rating. I have 1 star because there wasn't and option for no stars.

BEWARE: Macquarie Bank LOCK your Macquarie Bank account, if you make a Complaint about a product or service of theirs. You then have to ring them on a special, unlisted nmber and go through 21 questions to unlock your account. Absolutely absurd customer service; I decided to get rid of my account and go elsewhere! Also, you can ONLY use your Phone Number as your PayID number, you cannot use your Email Address, as other Banks allow. Very poor service!

One of the worst business banking entities I've ever worked with. Customer service is wholly inadequate and their systems are so outdated that seemingly simple tasks by other banking institutions are far quicker and less difficult to deal with.

Limited product range means limited choice and coupled with old systems, you end up taking far longer for even the most basic transactions.

It's not possible to hate this bank and organisation more than I do. Probably the worst run business in australia. I have had my card randomly blocked so many times. Go with ANY other bank.
