I have experienced really friendly and helpful staff but unfortunately the one recent occasion that stays in my mind was not such a positive experience. I was told I was to be charged $24 for a smallish wooden blanket box that definitely was not in great shape plus a few other small items. The rest of the load (and probably at least 7/8 of it) was donations and were duly taken by her colleagues as donations. Seriously $24 for 1 wooden box that I could easily carry, half a ‘baby’ gate (to be used in a doorway) and a small roll of silver insulation. The employee said it was $24 because it was wood. Does the Council really want the valley covered in smoke as people burn things like this rather than pay to take them to the tip? In fact when I checked my bank account it was not $24 but $25 that i was charged. Why the difference? I have to stress other visits have been fine with friendly and helpful employees. I have never been charged anything like $24 and never before been told one amount and charged another amount. Perhaps I just had the bad luck to meet a very unhappy employee.

Every time I visit the cost of leaving waste seems to double. I went yesterday with several types of waste and was charged at the most expensive rate for the full load just shy of $70 which was $23 / 25 previously. This will encourage people to do the wring thing rather than the right thing

$46 for a load of rubbish in the back of a dual cab ute. 4 bags max. Absolute rip off! It's cheaper to drive to Margate and back. No wonder there is so much rubbish being dumped in the bush.

The e-waste container is ridiculous, I could barely lift the lid on it and then struggled to lift the old PC in with one arm while also holding the huge metal door open. Who designed that?!

Absolute rip off! Sent the apprentice to get rid of a small amount of rubbish out of the ute he wasn't exactly sure how much it was and the lady couldn't see from the booth. She charged for 240L x2 @$12 each so $24 it would have bben lucky to be 140L of rubbish, so I went back and nicely explained offered me $6 refund and a terrible attitude, never going there again

Staff always friendly.

But Understandably prices have gone up due to increases in other areas, as an onset from COVID (Fuel and transport prices just to mention are going up). But some recent price increases are a bit of a complete joke. The cost of Timber disposal in particular has gone from $14.50 for the 2021 year up to $24.00 for 2022.

For the average trailer load, this would add $30-40 dollars to the cost of dumping. I am very understanding of standard price jumps and inflation has been far greater this year, but this is a substantial jump and is it really reflective of running costs to date?

[Edit: it's now open more hours THANKYOU]Honestly WHY must it only be open until 2pm two days a week? Is this some law? It has been like this for ever and it's SO INCONVENIENT. I mean 10-4 is not a huge ask is it. Also please join the 21st century on Tip passes. I see rubbish dumped all over our beautiful countryside and often people just dump or bury or burn hazardous material up the back of their own properties. At least a few of 'free' (built into your rates really) tip passes would help encourage doing the right thing. It's a common thing elsewhere. It would also make sense to not charge for small amounts of household rubbish (1 bag) for properties that dont have rubbish collection, as one other Council does where I have lived. This is a win-win as you reduce rubbish dumping either deliberate or accidental as people can hygenically drop off their garbage frequently rather than wait to accumulate a large amount to minimise overall tip fees.

Disposed of a dozen fence palings, 6 to 8 bags of rubbish, emptied our recycling. Donated a really good coffee table and tv cabinet to tip shop and was charged $49.00!!!

$29 for less than I cubic meter of rubbish and half of it went into metal recycling . The facility itself is tidy and the staff lovely but it's hard to justify the choice of going to this facility at that price
