I had the pleasure of working with SDVS for approximately four weeks while the owner was away. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone considering their services. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, highly proficient, and genuinely care about both their clients and their patients.

I'm really disgusted by our experience with the vet Julia Dowsett. We first saw Glynn who told us our dachshund Monty needed his teeth cleaned as he had a bit of calculus at the back. When Monty went in Julia performed the operation. They phoned and told us he had loose teeth that "were just pulling straight out". We were very surprised as Monty's teeth have always been very white and not showing any signs of decay like our other dachshund Abi, who had had 17 teeth out only a few weeks earlier by Julia as well. When hubby picked Monty up she had taken out 11 teeth and advised he needed to lose another 17 teeth and it would cost another $4000. When I later phoned to query this she said he needed 12 more teeth out and confirmed $4000. I asked why we hadn't seen any x-ray she said none was taken?! We took him to our old vet in Brisbane (drove for over 3 hours each way) who took x-rays and told us he didn't need to lose the 11 teeth, let alone need any more out, and she never cleaned his teeth. Poor Monty woke up with a pool of blood next to him after the operation. We submitted a complaint to the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Qld.

My experiences with Julia have been fantastic, She is and amazing Vet and a very caring Person, Julia has been very good with my Cats, and you couldn't ask for a more compassionate Vet.

We had to send our dog over the rainbow and the staff were very caring and lovely. They have this really nice outdoor play area where we could hold and cuddle our dog while he's being put to sleep in our arms. A peaceful and beautiful passing. We're very grateful.

Vets who genuinely care about and love your pets. It's so reassuring to have experts there who take the time to answer your questions and make sure your pets feel comfortable, and these guys do a great job.

I would never ever take any of my dogs to this vet again! Unprofessional and inexperienced vet (Julia) who is not having the best interest of your pet at heart. Very disappointed to have come across this vet however I would advise everyone reading this to avoid them at all costs! You are charged top dollars for services performed by a freshly graduated vet who is very inexperienced and dishonest.

We only moved to the area about 9 months ago and we brought our 2 dogs with us, 1 is a 14 year old Jack Russell and requires a lot of care and the other is a Red English Staffy and she was only 3 months old and then we got another Blue English Staffy Puppy and so we asked around where was the best Veterinary care we could get for our dogs (our fur babies) and was recommended Southern Downs Veterinary in High St Stanthorpe. When we called they were only to happy to get us in for a visit, from the receptionist Lorraine to all the staff they were so supportive and helpful. Glynn looked after our old dog and the care she received was fantastic. Julie was very helpful with our Blue English Staffy and advised us on how to manage her as we are wanting her to have at least 1 litter of pups. We receive messages when her upcoming vaccinations are due and her free dental checks. Can't recommend the Southern Downs Veterinary in High St enough.

2 Stars because they are friendly, but wow, are they an absolute rip off, quoted one then, bill was near double, then went on for a FREE backup appointment for teeth & Ears & was charged $80 to look in my dogs ear & $85 for ear drops I just found for $40 , Other vet is cheaper & as good, as is Warwick
