👍 Reviews of Ownit Conveyancing Cairns

Ownit Conveyancing Cairns - Cairns City, Queensland

2/5

I’m usually a pretty easygoing and positive person. I run my own business with up to ten people under me at times, so I understand the pressure that comes with managing staff and meeting client expectations. That said, I wanted to share an honest review of my experience with Ownit Conveyancing during the purchase of my first home.

To be fair, things started off really well. Ownit were true to their word with no hidden fees, and initial communication was clear and efficient. I appreciated their transparency and was feeling confident about the process early on.

However, as time went on, I started to notice a shift. The conveyancer assigned to me gradually became less involved, and I found myself dealing mostly with her assistant. Now, I want to give credit where it’s due — her assistant was fantastic and genuinely helpful throughout. She honestly deserves a raise. But when I did speak to the conveyancer directly, the few conversations we had felt rushed, and I didn’t get the sense that she cared much about me or the significance of this milestone. It took some of the excitement out of what should’ve been a special experience.

Where things really fell apart was in the days leading up to settlement. I completely understand there are many moving parts involved — banks, real estate agents, sellers and their conveyancers — so I’m not pointing fingers unfairly. But Ownit stopped communicating effectively with me at a time when clear communication was crucial. I began receiving emails from different people within their team — people I hadn’t dealt with before — requesting information I had already submitted. It became disorganised and frustrating.

My settlement was delayed by two days. Everyone seemed to blame someone else, which I’ve come to expect in this industry, but here’s what stuck with me: on the original settlement day, I called the office to try and get some clarity. I was told my conveyancer was on lunch — this was right before settlement was meant to go through. About 30 minutes later, I received an email from her saying the other parties weren’t ready, but when I contacted the other side, they said they were ready and didn’t know what my conveyancer was referring to. That moment summed up how disconnected and confusing the process had become.

When settlement finally did go through two days late, I actually took four days off work just to recover from the stress.

In the end, I’ll let you make your own decision based on this experience. I’m just relieved the whole process is over. I definitely won’t be buying or selling again anytime soon.
