Harcourts has been the worst property management experience I’ve ever had. Routine inspections were a complete failure — they missed entire rooms, told me the garage “wasn’t part of inspections,” and still sent glowing reports while the property fell apart. By the end of the tenancy, the garden was so overgrown it destroyed the edging, the lawn had been left to the point it turned into a mud pile, and the tenant even dumped sand from a sandpit across the backyard to hide dead patches of grass. The drain in the garden was smashed, spare tiles and floorboards we had left for maintenance were moved outside and ruined, and holes in the walls were patched so poorly they stood out even more. To top it off, a proper clean was never completed — the aircon filters were clogged with dust, grease, grime, and cobwebs were left throughout the house, and mould was visible in multiple areas.

The exit process dragged on for four weeks. I was told this was “standard routine,” which I confirmed with multiple agencies is simply untrue. Harcourts gave the tenant extension after extension, but nothing was ever rectified. When I asked about bond recovery, I was told I couldn’t pursue it — essentially because it would be too much of a hassle for them. This left me paying thousands out of pocket for repairs and cleaning, on top of four weeks of lost rent and mortgage repayments. I even received an email from Harcourts admitting to ineffective management, but no help or rectification was offered.

Communication was arrogant and dismissive. Brendan, who initially promised to oversee the matter, never once took my calls, ignored messages, and eventually fobbed me off to someone else. Almost none of my calls were ever returned, and updates only came when I chased repeatedly.

This incompetence and arrogance has cost me thousands, left my property in terrible and mould-ridden condition, and caused endless stress. If you value your property, avoid Harcourts at all costs.

It is also worth noting that I have not received a final exit report and I am still chasing money owed, including the final weeks’ rent and bills. While this may still be something Harcourts is sorting, I have had no communication on it.

Please check reviews before renting. It has taken me 2 months to end a lease after the property i was renting had flooded back on the 10th of March - Still an ongoing battle to get our bond back and had to sort out cleaning /removing furniture all by myself. Barely replying to emails or phone calls. Complete disaster in management. (Tait street, Kelvin Grove) We are still being asked to pay for bond cleaning, even though the entire house has been affected by floods - Upstairs containing black mould on ceiling & downstairs completely went underwater. Just leaving a short review for anyone checking out Harcourts Newmarket for renting.

Lisa & Dee are excellent Property Managers. I rented an apartment in Toowong for 4 years. Always very responsive and professional. Always came to reasonable outcomes whenever there was an issue. As a tenant and an owner, I would highly recommend anyone considering renting or listing their property to look no further.
