We had our simple taxes done here for 2025. Comparing experiences between 2024 at a different branch and here has shown a huge difference in service. Virginia explained everything clearly and was quite helpful in helping us navigate through certain documentation. We felt the support and we did not need to come back since the taxes were done immediately. We will come back to this branch as long as Virginia is there.

Go to a real account, this one cost me $4000 tax out of my super and didn’t even advise this would happen. Like I said find a real account and you will get back 5 times more

I had a frustrating and disappointing experience doing my tax return at H&R block Mount Gravatt. The staff member that I was dealing with was incompetent, they did not add in my WFH utilities tax deductions into my tax return, and I had to push them to add it in. I find this infuriating as adding in utilities bills is basic tax return knowledge 101.

To top it off, they didnt book in the time for my 2nd appointment time and they were surprised when I walked in for the 2nd appointment (despite us having agreed on the time at the 1st appointment).

The tax return that I got back minus H&R's tax return services is the same amount I would have received if I went ahead and completed the tax return by myself. I'm disappointed in H&R Mt Gravatt and I will definitely be doing my tax return somewhere else next year.

I'd compare them to nerds with no customer service, why nerds? You ASSUME they are smart and know what they're doing

Assuming accountants are smart and know what they're doing, ignoring their skills/experience, what we can't argue is, they have TERRIBLE customer service, no empathy, no compassion, they look at you as you're dumb, not offering information what they PERCEIVE as "you should already should know what to bring" if you don't have it, you're classified as dumb to them, if you've entered the wrong data its like you're trying to commit tax fraud

A good example is the receiptsHUB app, I have read on their reviews on the playstore, one review stated they didn't tell them about the app, wouldn't be surprised, I mean you make alot of money and you can't even sms the government update to your customers or put a commercial advertising this? or what if you only found out about it when doing your current tax, you will need to go through it from last year and add in WFH work shifts/acquire receipts, you can't copy and paste blanket shifts hoping to save time otherwise you'll get in trouble. I heard one case when asking "hey i wasn't told about the app" the response was "maybe you didn't tick the [accept marketing ads option for us] thus its YOUR fault you miss this crucial information"

Who on earth likes marketing most NORMAL people will opt out of it, and this is a crucial government update it SHOULDN'T be attached to marketing/ads addons and then pushed into our email spam folder

This lack of good customer service is UNACCEPTABLE, you must assume all customers are scared/newcomers or who simply aren't familiar with numbers etc

If we consumers KNEW what we were doing we wouldn't need to pay for professional help, if i knew about cars I wouldn't pay for the car company to service it, if i knew about bread making i wouldn't pay for the supermarkets or bread store to make it for me, I'd do it myself

By the end of their service they make you feel bad and terrible, as a person who suffers from depression and severe anxiety I can safely tell you I feel suicidal and just wanted to complete it all and didn't care about the tax payout (which even if it was wrong how do i with no tax knowledge argue with them anyways)

SIDE NOTE: My first H&R block accountant exp was at the temporary booth at garden city, it was simple, tax payout was pretty good, too bad they removed/fired her. The moment I went to the ACTUAL office the customer service AND tax I got was dropping severely with everytime i came in

I am seriously considering a new company, now you might ask "what if you get paid worse in another company", whocares on the payout, my fee cost half of what i'm claiming back anyways...

Wouldn't waste your time here if you're at all involved in cryptocurrency. Brett must've lost some money in the past or something because he couldn't stop belittling crypto every chance he got. Unsavoury experience. Do not recommend.
