Hello again dear reader,
Let’s talk about technology. And let’s talk about trust. And let’s talk about two pre-teens who now have their own PC rigs because Dad — yes, this humble spiritual warrior before you — finally stopped pretending that sharing a single desktop was “a great opportunity to bond.”
Enter: Computer Alliance.
I've been with these nerdy sages of silicon since the year 2000. That’s right — back when Napster was a thing and we had just survived Y2K, the world’s biggest existential threat.
Since then, I’ve bought ten PCs, two laptops, and a NAS (which I named HAL9000, because of course I did).
And over the years? They’ve consistently been a lighthouse in the pixelated storm of consumer electronics. Great prices? Check. Honest advice? Absolutely. Passionate staff who talk about RAM the way Rumi talks about love? You bet.
Now let’s fast forward to 2025.
The mission: Buy identical PCs for my two oldest kids. No longer would they fight over Minecraft loading speeds or whose Discord lagged harder. I ordered the first one for pickup — three days later, I was holding the box like Rafiki holding up Simba. Perfection.
The second machine? I went for delivery.
And here, dear reader, is where our tale takes a minor turn down Mount Frustration. The box arrived looking like it had been handled by the Hulk during a mood swing. And when I plugged it in… nothing. No signal. Just the digital equivalent of a sad trombone.
Now — old me might have panicked. Cursed the gods. Considered seppuku by HDMI cable.
But I know Computer Alliance.
So, I opened the case, took one deep breath, gently nudged the video card until it clicked, and voilà resurrected like Spock in Star Trek III.
Was I annoyed? Sure.
Disappointed? A little.
But I wasn’t angry. No, because I knew, without a doubt, that if there had been real damage, the team would have had my back faster than you can say “firmware update.”
The truth is, you don’t stay loyal to a tech company for 25 years because of the hardware alone. You stay because of the humans behind it. The ones who actually listen. Who don’t upsell you nonsense. Who talk you through RAID setups like it’s an act of spiritual formation.
“What we do now echoes in eternity,” said Marcus Aurelius. That man never built a gaming PC. But I think he’d have liked the folks at Computer Alliance.
So yes, the gear is great. The prices are fair. But what sets them apart is the feeling that you’re being looked after by people who genuinely care.
Geeks? Yes. But the kind of geeks who’ll guide you through the GPU multiverse like a Gandalf with glasses.

Samsung G70b-28inch monitor - runs great and looks good. Nice upgrade from my generic monitor.
*sale by a top bloke named "Mon" for this purchase. Friendly and helped me confirm that this was the monitor I wanted.

Corsair RM850x Shift PSU - nice and quiet, good cable management with side plugs for components, as opposed to plugging to the back. Depending on your Chassis of course.
*sale by "Gabriel". Also helpful and friendly.

Buy @ "Computer Alliance" if you want good service and knowledge from staff without feeling rushed or pressured.

My wife and I were in need of a home desktop computer as our 6 year old laptop was really struggling with today’s demands. We were helped by an extremely knowledgeable, very kind and patient staff member named Caleb W. He thoroughly selected components for a build which perfectly matched our use case, came in within our budget and also aligned aesthetics to suit our office/gaming space. Since then we’ve been back to the store to buy other bits and pieces for our home network setup and helped by him again, absolutely outstanding staff member. On pickup of the build, the staff at the back of the store ran through everything I needed to know for setting it up. The entire process from start to finish at Computer Alliance has been incredible. This is my new favourite store, living out in Ipswich it’s a bit of a drive but absolutely worth it 🙂
