I have been invoiced $495 for a phone call to ask how much it was going to cost to open a company and trust with them.

When I disputed the charges with the director Luke, he quickly threatened to send the matter to debt collection.

Edit: You can clearly see from my initial enquiry that I was asking a straightforward question — one that your reception staff should have been able to answer. Instead, I was directed to schedule a phone call with your accountant, Sam. During that call, it was Sam who initiated a discussion about what I was planning to do with the business and also went off-topic, speaking about her family, relocating to the area, and buying a home.

You’re entitled to your opinion in calling my review misleading, just as I’m entitled to hold the view that your business is overcharging clients and providing substandard advice. The charges you are requesting I pay also do not align with the hourly rate of $297 quoted in the 2024 engagement form you provided. I was charged $330 for a general discussion that I had no idea was going to take place and $165 simply for being sent a form that I had to fill out — neither of which were clearly disclosed.

The meeting preparation form you provided does make a general statement that charges may apply, but it fails to specify what those charges are, what the billing increments would be, or how time would be calculated. There is no mention of the hourly rate, minimum billable units, or that submitting the form or attending a brief phone call would result in specific fees.

This lack of transparency makes the form misleading. A reasonable person would not interpret that document as sufficient notice of a $330 charge for a phone call.

We were very disappointed in the price that we were charged to do our tax last year. We were probably charged double what we should have been compared to other tax agents around the area. I certainly wouldn’t recommend to others.
