I warn everyone to steer clear. They sent us an email around 8pm the night before a major case to state they will not be appearing on our behalf. We read their email late afternoon, after the case, and the case was struck out and we were ultimately evicted from our premises due to the incompetence of this firm and overall mishandling of the case and mistreatment of us, their client. During our time with Cogent Legal, they continuously ignored our emails whist we had to continually email asking for updates, they continually emailed the other party without copying us, they continually told VCAT they would file certain things for the case (again, never copied us in emails), only to later find out they were not done even though we paid for this work. This firm is a complete nightmare. You have been warned.

Reply to Cogent Legal: I won't let your threats stop me from warning others. You people are pathetic. You know exactly what you did. I can show ANYONE the emails we continuously sent you that were replies to unanswered emails by YOUR FIRM. Your pointless malpractice lost me my venue as we technically "did not appear" so we had to fight even harder to reopen the case. We spend thousands of dollars for new lawyers just to try and reopen that case that you stitched us up on. You could've told us 1 week before the case that you were not going to appear so that we could find new lawyers but you chose to tell us THE NIGHT BEFORE. Even after you stitched us up, our new legal team sent you email after email seeking discovery documents as ordered by VCAT and you again refused to fully co-operate with them and blatantly refused to give us everything we asked for as ordered by the VCAT member which again put us in a very bad position as we couldn't provide the VCAT member the documents we needed to. You also ignored emails from them. We'll be making complaints to the legal board regarding your conduct throughout the proceeding.
