Absolutely garbage service. Wasting our tax payers money so budget lawyers can bring forward bogus cases by deeply mentally troubled people who have no money for a reason. I've had multiple interactions with these folks who unquestioningly enable people's victim mentality when they should be seeking therapy instead. The best we can hope for is that this service gets defunded. Absolute disgrace.

They provided legal aid for my case during a very difficult and stressful time. However, it seemed they had a lot of cases to deal with. At some points in the process, I assumed they were not very serious about my case and didn't care. I had a few arguments with them, but they patiently explained and kept me updated regarding the process, which decreased my stress and mistrust. I believe they did their best, and I am very happy with the outcome.

Legal aids assigned to my case didn't get back to me and incorrect advice was given. Useless.
Also, unprofessional receptionist with his earbuds in dismmising my query.

I am not normally a reviewer but here I had to write a review about Ms. Jaskiran whom I had the great pleasure to work with recently regarding my immigration matter and I couldn’t be happier with the service she provided and the positive outcome. Jaskiran is so professional, knowledgeable, respectful, and very responsive throughout the entire process, and above all, she is so kind that I can't even find the words to express it. Jaskiran is an asset to her workplace. She made sure that all of my questions were answered and that I was kept up-to-date on the status of my application. Her attention to detail and expertise in the field made the process of my matter much less stressful than it could have been. She took me through all the details and prepared me very well. Despite the nature of the outcome, my review wouldn't be different. I highly recommend Jaskiran and the Legal Aid ACT to anyone looking for legal assistance with their visa application or any other legal services that The Legal Aid ACT provides.
Thank you very much Jaskiran. You are simply the BEST, and I will always be grateful to you.
And thank you Legal Aid ACT.

A very poor customer service. The application form was filled 2 weeks ago, and there has been no decision made, so I’m fully unaware whether I’ll be supported in the court or not.
They do enjoy keeping their customers stressed knowing that the court hearing is in a couple of days.

It really depends on lawyer.
Last time I had a drop in session about tenancy agreement they were very patient and professional.
However I had an appointment regarding employment law today and the lawyer said she really had to ago when we didn’t have half an hour for the appointment. And at her view she believed I’m entitled to lodge a case but not worthy because of the amount

I'm a disabled person on the DSP and the sort of person Legal Aid was founded to assist. Legal Aid ACT has refused to make reasonable accommodations for my disability or explain why they couldn't provide the requested accommodations. I've had one awful experience after another. My most recent experience was having a grant of aid cancelled because I asked my lawyer to explain the repercussions of the advice she wanted me to follow. She refused and said the assigned funding didn't cover answering questions. She expected me to follow her advice without knowing what I was doing or why I was doing it and when I asked for an explanation she dropped me.

I haven't broken the law (I'm just trying to get through my divorce), but I don't see how anyone who is disabled and also accused of something criminal would get fair representation.
