I Have never met Chris Adams.

Our dealings were unusual, if not unique.

For the last 10 months I have been stranded in China due to the Covid 19 situation and I was presented with a divorce and property settlement that needed to be handled from offshore with no preparedness on my part and little access to documentation.

Companies were involved and I had major problems with accessing Australian records and accessing my offshore company documents due to accountants and banks being closed.

I was not prepared for this.

I had some serious issues.

My dealings with Chris could have been disadvantaged by the lack of any personal meeting between us, lack of documentation, geographical distance, or the time difference.

However communication and accessibility, which is critically important in any situation requiring decisions and negotiations, was never a problem.

I recall Chris answering my calls at every occasion.

Sometimes on a noisy street walking to his office, or while driving home, and on the occasions when I did not get an immediate answer to my call, I received a text reply saying, “In a meeting at the moment…. or in mediation etc ..will call back in XX minutes” etc.

And he did.

Then when the Australian lockdown came, because of the time difference, many, in fact most of our video discussions were held from his home and often in the evenings.

Chris was always professional, but more importantly, he was obviously experienced and knowledgable.

He always had a calmness and understanding of the frustration a client gets from this type of litigation which left me with a feeling of confidence in my situation. I found this very important.

Then, due to Covid19 travel restrictions, I was not able to attend court for my trails.

Chris handled these in my absence and obtained the desired result.

He was conscious of my cost and he was very thorough.

With all correspondence, throughout the whole process, it consisted of him taking notes, forwarding all proposed reply correspondence to me in draft form, for fact checking and possible correction, before submitting back to the other side, thus avoiding unnecessary discrepancies or argument and additional costs.

In relation to costs, his final account was around 50% of his quoted initial estimate to run the trial and negotiate the property settlement.

After some ten months of dealing with Chris, I have no hesitation at all in recommending him as a family law professional… and believe me, at my age… I have had many dealings with many solicitors over many decades and my opinion of them is not gracious.

Yes, I can certainly recommend Chris as a desired attorney to have on your side in any family law or property settlement situation.

He did the right thing by me…. and at the right price.

So much so, that one day I would like to meet up with him personally... and enjoy a scotch together.
