I am a high school student who was recently able to complete work experience at Altus Lawyers over my school holidays – I am in VCE and was hoping to gain some insight into how a law firm runs, and firsthand knowledge of what the legal industry is like.
The primary thing that struck me was the care every lawyer
seemed to have for their clients, and their earnest dedication to obtaining the best outcomes for them; it was clear that all staff
were clearly passionate about what they were doing. Everyone in the office was kind, approachable and willing to share their knowledge, and it was a highly collaborativeenvironment; the Principal Brendan Swift took the time to explain processes and concepts to me despite being very busy handling multiple cases and the whole office, which meant a lot to me. I had unique insight into how Altus Lawyers runs their cases, and as a result I wouldrecommend them to anyone experiencing legal troubles and seeking professional and quality advice.

My first meeting with Phillip and Brendan was a breath of fresh air they listened very intently to the details of the case and really brought a humane element by building rapport with myself, treating me with complete dignity regarding the circumstances as well as digging down into the detail.
It was the first time anyone really wanted to understand what had actually happened!!

My normal Lawyers were unable to help me due to a conflict of interest but they recommended Altus hands down (so a competitor recommends them!). Nonetheless i was REALLY pleased to meet Phillip and unlike a lot of Solicitors he took time (without wasting it) and ours is a complex set of terms which he really got his head around, and fast. I was very happy with the charges (not cheap but you get what you pay for here) and the support, assistance and proposed solutions throughout the process. Even the billing process, very open and before they raise an invoice they check all items with you. Very professional.

They put the word Criminal in front of lawyers as an in-house joke. Why? Well you see criminals steal and rob others and use all kinds of threats to make you pay up when having bought false hope which is thin air. Avoid Altus lawyers as you would anything damaging to your welfare.
