I was there on Saturday 9th of November..
The space is really lovely. It’s a cozy nice set up. I really felt good to look around. However, Only thing I need to say was the lady who was working there was so distracting from being able to concentrate on finding a book I liked, then when I couldn’t find it, i mentioned QBD which set off a big rant about not buying from big chains and buying from independently owned book shops, and buying local. My support worker had to leave the shop. Then when I finally found a book I wanted, she wouldn’t stop talking till she had “convinced” me to buy a different book that was written by a local author, instead of the book I wanted.
I ended up just buying the book, honestly, so she would quit ranting and give me some peace! I suffer big time from social anxiety, I was with a worker on a respite also to try and step out and try new things to work through it, my support worker had to leave for a moment before coming back in.. book shops are peaceful places unless you ask if they have a book in or not.. granted some people might like the CONSTANT chatter while trying to look at books to find one they like, but that was not helpful. I had such an anxiety attack after that my worker and I had to go back to our accommodation instead of going to the beach or a cafe. There was not a moment during the visit where she wasn’t either ranting about buying from small independent shops or buying local, or trying her hardest to talk me out of the book I wanted to support some local authors book that I really didn’t want.
Sorry but I wouldn’t come again, it’s too risky for my mental health.

(Oh also just to quickly add to it, I did ask if she had a book by a certain author, after she said I could ask her, and she just came out with “well, if it isn’t there with her other ones, we don’t have it” making me feel stupid for asking.. but then proceeded with everything else I mentioned above)

Possibly the Worst shopping experience I have ever had. I ordered a book and it was damaged when i received it. The shop assistant was aloof and to busy to talk to me when i rung to complain, when i took it back i was verbally attaked and screamed at by the assistant and her friend. They both ganged up on me screaming at me as i fled in tears. I have never ever experienced anything like it in my life, it was totally outrageous.
