Well this surgery in their introduction statement say they offer appts to new patients and also walk ins, I cut myself pretty bad and rang to hopefully be able to see a doctor to stitch it up, as I cannot walk on it to travel to macleay Island or to satellite hosp and was told simply, no we don't have any apps available. You would think they would make an effort to at least see me in a situation like this but instead was told to go somewhere else. I find this concerning as what if someone was in the same situation and they were a child or an elderly person needing this type of urgent treatment from a cut or something else that does not require an ambulance when they are needed for more serious patients that need hospital attention. Obviously I am not able to walk or drive but they expect you to walk to ferry or to the satellite hospital with the injury. I find this very discarding and why say on their website that they will see walk ins and new patients when none of this is true. Also I found the person who answered the phone rather uncaring and made no attempt to try and help me. Non sympathetic at all. I wonder how they work in this industry and be so unsympathetic. How does she know that the doctor was not willing to help me when she didn't even ask. I feel that these doctor receptionist think they are important enough to make decisions on behalf of the medical practitioner themselves. This person was not friendly or helpful in any way, just basically couldn't care less even after I explained my circumstance. I am actually disgusted and it doesn't make me feel very safe living on this island. The vets here treat their patients 100% better than this.
I am not going to hold up an ambulance for an injury like this when they are needed in more emergency situations .
Finally, why make statements on your website that simply are not practised and misleading
I would also like to add that this receptionist at russel island surgery is the front person for this surgery and the practitioners that practice in this surgery, therefore I'm sure the doctors that are caring and helpful would not appreciate a receptionist that has no standards. It has been brought to my attention that this person has a reputation for being very rude and unkind. Not a positive review at all and certainly not good for the doctors practising at this surgery. They should be informed of the negativity this brings to their practice.

The receptionist working the front desk at Macleay Island on Monday morning, 8 Jan, 2024 was telling people that the practice is not accepting new patients. And then i went online and booked an appointment for Friday, 12 January, 2024. . Their online booking system even sent me a new patient enrolment form. It’s too bad that the medical practice is literally paying a woman an hourly wage to turn business away. I would not be the least bit surprised if she also thinks she deserves a raise .

Great doctors and excellent staff..

BUT, ALWAYS an excessively long wait time..
New owners trying to squeeze in as many patients as possible, thus making US WAIT LONGER..
Several times I have waited over an hour past my scheduled appt. time..
Disgraceful.. My time costs me money too..
Was much better before, when the Island doctors owned and ran it..

Poor Service, Lack of attention to new patients. Tardy unpunctual schedule management. The make to sure to weigh you and take blood pressure though. Obviously to ensure billing back to medicare. Pity they focus less on patient management that on billing!
