I regret choosing Cahill Family Lawyers. I was clear from the beginning about what I required and the lawyer was fully aware of my financial and personal circumstances. Despite this, I felt subtly coaxed into more than was necessary, framed as professional advice, but in hindsight, it seemed more about generating billable work than meeting my actual needs. The approach came across as caring and helpful but ultimately was not. I do not recommend this firm.

From the moment I first contacted them regarding complex family law matters - some 5 years ago- I felt truly supported and in incredibly capable hands. Most importantly, Paul, Rachael and their team have demonstrated genuine care, compassion and understanding of how hard it is to go through family law proceedings and other personal factors (such as cancer) that you may have no choice but to deal with as family law proceedings drag on. Paul and Rachael have patiently explained every step of the daunting process of many court appearances, ensuring I understood my options and the potential outcomes. Their expertise in family law was evident in every interaction, leading to several exceptionally positive outcomes for my family, including favorable - nay winning - court decisions. Beyond family law, Cahill Family Lawyers have assisted me with matters heard in VCAT, dealt with DFFH, intervention order matters and SOCIT and criminal proceedings simultaneously.. Their comprehensive approach and ability to handle diverse legal needs under one roof was a genuine relief, being both convenient and reassuring.

The entire team is responsive, thorough, and genuinely committed to achieving the best possible results. Their ongoing dedication made an enormous difference during the most challenging times of my life. Avoid them at all cost. Although initially they were recommended to us, we quickly found out it was all about revenue for them. The more emails and phone calls the more money they could make. They were spending the money we had to pay in advance without our authorisation when we’d made it very clear from the beginning they were not to write emails or letters or respond unless we had requested or were informed. Not only did they spend more than was initially agreed upon but then sent us a bill for further payment. When we questioned them about it, the billing department informed us that the lawyer had billed this work. When we told them that she’d not been authorised to do so and had not informed us of the extra cost they said it wasn’t their problem. We requested the lawyers contact us back about this issue and nobody did. We never heard from them again. However 2 years later at a settlement these lawyers had placed a caveat on the property we were selling. Not only was the lawyer we used incompetent but the company itself hadn’t the decency to return our call and has abused the law by deceitful means to access our funds.

Paul Cahill is absolutely unhelpful. I do not recommend him as there is a big ack of knowledge, integrity, moral, care and support. My experience with his service was a huge mistake and frustration . I lost my case as he provided a settlement document three months later than its due that was crucial to be ready within two weeks. He completely made himself out of touch. I did not get any reply, calls , message or emails. He introduced me to his PA to contact but she was inaccessible. Save your pocket, time, nerves and deal with other lawyers.
