Had a pretty bad experience dealing with Carbon Group, and in particular Matthew Vaughan-Davies. It would take weeks, if not months, to get a reply from him. Even after multiple follow-up emails and calls to the office.

Just felt like my fiancé and I weren't valued customers at all. We were getting really frustrated with the lack of progress and lack of communication with our matters. And even the few responses we'd get would be very short and rude. Sometimes even just one word replies.

Looking at the other reviews for him, it seems like he would just prioritise businesses, rather than individuals. And if that's the case, then he shouldn't have onboarded us and wasted our time and money.

Matt convinced me to apply for a tax variation with them, hoping to get the benefit for most of the financial year, but due to the lack of progress and updates from Matt, it wasn't able to be actioned until a few weeks ago. I lost several months worth of tax savings and possible interest growth due to his inactivity. I paid him and Carbon several hundred dollars to get this completed, and it was just a disappointing, stressful and frustrating result.

It was so unprofessional we decided to drop Carbon and Matt as our accountants and look elsewhere. However, I will say that when Matt left Carbon, his replacements Clint Gibson and Georgie Knight were fantastic! Very responsive and were able to assist us and our new accountant with a few errors and issues that Matt made in our tax returns (which did also cost us extra money to get the new accountant to fix Matt's errors).

Wish we had Clint and Georgie from the start, since it was such a drastic difference and improvement going from Matt to them. But it was too late by then.

We've been working with Carbon for quite a few years now. They are efficient, reliable and always deliver on time.
They are flexible too and will change processing dates to meet our requirements. They have good resourcing to ensure things still run smoothly even when our primary contact is on leave.
It should be noted that we have had the same primary contact, Simone, for the majority of this time. This is so important for building rapport, understanding our requirements and ensuring consistency.
