Heard a few negative comments and they were completely wrong. Wonderful hospital. Great staff. Chelsie in particular is a wonderful nurse. Would recommend to anyone. Wonderful people doing a very hard job. Keep up the good work.

We have recently had to dropped our private health after years of payments we just can’t afford it anymore. Now we are public patients and my husband is desperate for a hip replacement after getting his referral to Geelong orthopaedic outpatients from his GP we were happy to get an appointment in 6 weeks. They then suggested if we were willing to travel to Colac Hospital he would probably get done faster and we were happy with that. In only 2 months we had a date for the operation and I’m so glad we decided to travel to Colac. The staff are so thorough professional and friendly we had met or spoken to everyone involved before he had even had the op from the admin clerk anaesthetist surgeon physio and everyone was wonderful. The Hospital is small, clean, modern and easy to get around we were shown exactly where he needed to go and what he needed to bring on the day. I have had over 20 operations in my time in many different hospitals over Melbourne and Geelong private and public and have never seen such wonderful care before the surgery this was fabulous for my husband who has only had one hospital stay previously in his 70 years. Colac hospital staff must be commended on the way they treat their patients. I’m so impressed and if you get a choice this is a great hospital to choose.

I was admitted for a scheduled knee replacement surgery on 14th April 2025.
I had a lovey Asian, lady as my anaesthetist. Unfortunately her name escapes me. However, I cannot commend her highly enough, for her thoroughness and diligence regarding my complex needs, pre-admission and post surgery. Please pass my thanks and total admiration on to this specialist.

The pre-admission was thorough, and totally professional.

On surgery day, I presented to the hospital in the early morning. The nurses at pre-op were tremendous. Very calming and reassuring.

The team of specialists, led by Mr Andrew Thomson (surgeon), I have nothing but appreciation and admiraton for them all.

The nursing staff and doctors on the acute ward were completely professional, courteous and friendly.

The operation and recuperation has been a total success.

I have to mention the physiotherapy nurses. They were fantastic and so knowledgeable and helpful. They encouraged me to keep up with my exercises, which I have done.

Colac Area Health is a fantastic place to go for so many conditions. I cannot recommend the hospital staff more highly.

I just wanted to thank the amazing care teams at Colac Hospital who took such incredible care of my husband, Jeremy, over the last two weeks. From the Urgent Care and Acute Care teams to the tea ladies, cooks, cleaners, and social workers – every single one of you made such a difference in his recovery. The dedication, compassion, and hard work you all put in helped Jeremy overcome a very scary medical episode, and we are so grateful. Thank you for going above and beyond to make him feel supported and cared for. You truly are all heroes!

Attended urgent care last night for my mother. Excellent attendance, they made us both feel at home and made my mother feel a lot better by the end. We were attended by Amelia and she was amazing, we were also seen by Dr Millan (sorry if that's spelt wrong) and he was very thorough and supportive. Couldn't have asked for better service. (We were attended by other nurses as well but I'm so sorry, I can't remember names but all were very caring and accommodating).
