Unfortunately, I became a victim of Business Email Compromise (BEC) scam impersonating Colquhuon & Colquhuon, that resulted in my huge financial loss.

The solicitor in charge of my case from this firm didn't manage to establish a secured channel to exchange the sensitive information like payments. Unlike e.g. my bank (who calls me and sends an SMS every time I need to sign a loan document etc), they didn't give me a single call from the moment I signed the initial paperwork with them till the day of settlement (when they didn't find the money in my account).

I totally acknowledge this was partially my fault that I didn't confirm the bank account details with them before transferring the money to buy a property. However, as they were aware of scams, they still didn't enforce such a channel to protect their customers. I believe one hires solicitors to let the lawyers protect their interest as people of other professions might be not competent in this area. The policies of the firm should have been designed and enforced by its staff in a way to avoid situations like mine.

However, the firm didn't care much about my financial loss (e.g. they didn't offer me assistance with an application to the bank to dispute the wrong transaction and to the police to investigate the case).

Moreover, I had to contact them again and again to ensure an early settlement (as there were no funds on the initial date) to prevent even higher financial losses. I do not think this is an example of feasible behaviour for a firm that protects my interest. They should have been aware of my situation when I and my retired mum didn't have a roof as my previous rent had already expired during the process.

The only reason they actually contacted me after the end of financial dealings for the settlement was my previous google review (as it was explicitly stated in a personal message, screenshot available). Still, the director of the firm chose another staff member to reach me out. During the call, they told me they thought that I'm happy with their services and therefore didn't find it necessary to contact me.

I would expect a firm (and just people) acting in my interest to actually immediately organise a meeting in person just to ensure my wellbeing (and the ability to enter any legal dealings after a strong psychological shock) and draft future steps.

In the very end, this scam impersonated them, not anyone else. In the very end, they were aware of scams, and they didn't act proactively to ensure my safety. So, if you choose this firm for your dealings, please remember that your financial safety is only your matter.

PS: From my side, I contacted my IT security department, and they told me they do not see any security breaches from their side.
