Please don’t see Peter if you want paperwork done for Power of Attorney and are elderly. My elderly parents were increasingly asking me to take care of their financial and health needs. I suggested they renew their Power of Attorney with Peter. Dad’s memory was getting worse and mum’s hearing was bad and she didn’t want to deal with their finances. They wanted me to have the power to act on their behalf. Peter talked them out of giving me this power.
Later mum had asked for some clarification on how I could do things for them legally without her having to be with me. Toni refused her entry to the building, leaving her in the rain crying!
2 years later I was doing everything for my parents. We went back to Peter for me to sign the documents. He had said previously that it was not necessary for me to sign and would not let me be present at the time. My parents and I were treated appallingly by Peter. He was rude, belittled us and was extremely aggressive in his manner.
He then wanted to charge us and after we left I discovered that he hadn’t signed one of the papers so had to return! My 89 year old parents were so upset.
We believe Peter is way past his time. My husband and I have recently completed our own Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianship paperwork and we were able to have our kids present if we wished, there is no extra charge for signing at a later date (as we don’t need help at this stage) and the whole process was so pleasant and informative!
