Avoid Ferris Conveyancing – Terrible Service and Unprofessional Experience

I strongly recommend avoiding Ferris Conveyancing, especially Debbie, who acted as our settlement agent during the purchase of our property. What should have been a smooth and professional process turned into a nightmare of mismanagement, frustration, and disappointment. Debbie’s inability to fulfill her duties as our settlement agent made the entire experience awful and unnecessarily stressful.

Before settlement, I brought several issues with the property to her attention, including a critical problem with the air conditioning airflow not functioning in certain areas. I meticulously outlined these concerns in an email well in advance of the settlement date. However, Debbie failed to act. Rather than advocating for us or addressing the matter with the seller, she merely forwarded the email without any follow-up or resolution.

On the day of settlement, the seller promised by email to fix the air conditioning issue, but unsurprisingly, nothing happened afterward. As our settlement agent, Debbie should have taken responsibility for ensuring these issues were resolved before settlement was finalized. If the seller refused to fix the problem, she could have negotiated a reduction in the purchase price to allow us to cover the cost ourselves. Instead, she completely failed to act in our best interest.

The situation escalated to the point where we had to involve our mortgage broker on the day of settlement. This should never have been necessary, as it was Debbie’s job to handle these issues. With our broker’s intervention, the settlement eventually went through, but none of the outstanding issues were addressed. We were left in an impossible position: we couldn’t delay the settlement as everything had already been arranged, including movers, and canceling at the last minute would have caused significant financial and logistical problems for us.

Debbie’s lack of professionalism and accountability was apparent throughout the process. She demonstrated no initiative, no advocacy, and no understanding of her responsibility to her clients. Her communication was poor, and her approach was indifferent at best. What should have been her responsibility to manage became a burdensome back-and-forth process for us, and ultimately, we were left to deal with everything on our own.

This was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had with a settlement agent. Debbie failed to act as an advocate, failed to manage the process effectively, and failed to deliver even the most basic level of professionalism. The role of a settlement agent is to ease the burden on their clients, but in our case, Debbie made an already stressful process exponentially worse.

I cannot emphasize enough how terrible this experience was. Ferris Conveyancing and Debbie’s service were an absolute disaster from start to finish. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, stay far away from this business. The stress, lack of accountability, and sheer incompetence were unacceptable, and I would never recommend their services to anyone.
