I had an extremely disappointing experience with Andrea King from Genuine Legal WA. As a single mother seeking Family Court advice, I approached her hoping for guidance and support. Instead, I was met with a complete lack of respect and compassion.

Andrea consistently talked over me, dismissed my concerns, and was blatantly rude throughout the interaction. She made me feel unheard and undervalued, which is the last thing anyone in a vulnerable position should experience when seeking legal help.

It's clear that Andrea lacks the empathy and understanding needed to assist women navigating family law matters. Her attitude left me feeling disrespected and unsupported. I would never engage this law firm based on my interaction with her. Genuine Legal WA should reconsider how they approach clients, particularly single mothers seeking help during difficult times. She clearly doesn't have children as a self proclaimed 'cat lady' and that's probably for the best.

Andrea and the team at GLWA are professional and efficient. Andrea is a straight shooter and keeps it real. Continually updating me on progress. The good: Cheap rates, 1hour free initial consult, fixed fee great if your legal matter is straightforward (but family law never is).

The bad: Impersonal service (online platform for communication not email), many minor errors in drafting of documents, not having questions answered, poor communication (being forwarded correspondence from the other parties lawyer at midnight with no explanation of what it means), no complaints process -when I asked how I can go about making a complaint about my experience with Genuine Legal I was advised in writing to make a report to Legal Practice Board WA (LPBWA) instead.

Money still sitting in the trust account, but I chose to leave Genuine Legal and found a much better lawyer. The other lawyer communicated around sensitive family law matters much better, and were transparent with their services.

Update 20/08/2024 - LPBWA reviewed my complaint, and contacted Ms King, and closed my case with no resolution as they could assist no further. Ms King declined any of my requests for a refund or explanation about the vaguely worded contract. She provided no other option for resolution. Ms King confirmed Genuine Legal do not have a complaints policy, but stated it is not required as per LPBA. This is all in written correspondence.

Update: 24/09/2024 - Received an email from LPBWA stating Ms King contacted them requesting to ask me to take down my 'disparaging' review. LPBWA stated they cannot compel me to do so, but did advise me to seek legal advice as Ms King stated to them, if it was not removed she will proceed with legal action. As seen, Ms King then commented on my post on approximately 26/09/2024 accusing me of lying, stating my review was defamatory and stating she would be forced to consider further action if my review was not removed immediately.

In the middle of 2022 I needed to enlist the urgent help of Genuine Legal. The team at Genuine legal helped to get my case seen by the courts on an urgent basis. Hayden and Andrea acted professionally and achieved great outcomes for my case. They always communicated what was happening in the case really well and gave me a realistic idea of what my chances were. I have been using Genuine legal throughout the course of my divorce proceedings of 2 years. Andrea and David are very professional solicitors.

They will help and advise you throughout the complex legal process of family law very thoroughly and will help guide you through each step of the process. Each contract will outline what legal services will be performed and how much the costs will be so it will help you budget.

There is also integrity in the firm as I accidentally overpaid for legal services and was refunded immediately when it was discovered by Andrea.

Overall they will help you reach a solution which will minimize legal fees compared to other legal firms which will litigate for the sake of litigation.
