My agent was very friendly, helpful, and competent however I was disappointed that the pricing structure (per return,r regardless of time) wasn't explained up front. I had several returns to complete, with some of them taking about 5-7 minutes to complete (ultra simple, no deductions), so for four returns and about an hours work the cost to me was $700. I think they just start doing the work quickly without explaining what they are doing and how much it will cost out of pocket, which is unfortunate and felt underhanded. Would appreciate if someone contacted me to discuss this.

Great experience for the tax return, they welcomed me without appointment on a Saturday, 10 min before closing hours. And even when I left Australia they helped me have the document from the ato to pay the taxes. There were two ladies, very kind and knowledgeable! Thank you so much 🥰

My first tax return in Australia (for 2022-23) was done by an trainee at H&R Block on 13/07/2023. She told me I could bring my Medicare levy exemption later, with no extra charges. However, when I returned, she was no longer there, and the manager demanded an extra $70+. Despite explaining the previous arrangement, the manager refused to honor it. Frustrated, I decided to handle it myself.

A friend helped me review my return and found multiple errors, including the mishandling of my Medicare exemption. I went back to H&R Block to address this but faced the same manager, who denied any mistakes and covered it up with accounting jargon. A classic cover up strategy. Her attitude and focus on money left me furious, especially since I was relying on my return to pay for university.

Reluctantly, I returned for the FOURTH TIME to the H&R Block for 2023 tax return, where Dona assisted me. She immediately recognized the mistakes and showed genuine concern for my frustration. Thanks to her, I felt understood.

My issue is not with the trainee, but with the incompetent and money-driven manager. I will be raising a formal complaint, asking that the manager be held accountable. If it weren’t for Dona, I wouldn’t consider coming back to this location.

The tax accountant at the Belmont office helped me maximise my return in a very professional manner by answering the questions I had and advising me of the best way forward with Superannuation and other offsets that need to be properly understood. I'll be using their services going forward and letting friends of mine know how good they are providing it.
