Went here for last years tax return. The bloke had the audacity to tell me I don’t look like the type to work outside? When I asked if I could claim sunscreen. God forbid a girl does a trade. Anyways there was a bunch of shit I could have claimed and he didn’t even mention it so for $190 I ended up losing money then if I hadn’t gone and claimed no deductions.

Been going to h & r block for almost ten years. Started off with great friendly service with a smile and great tax return. Recently over the last 4 years it’s been nothing but headaches and poor customer service with no friendly service and a poor tax return which isn’t worth lodging considering my income and expenses haven’t changed. Constantly getting caught up in issues between h & r and the ato because neither can simply do their job properly or return phone calls which I’m still waiting on!!! Never going back there again!!!

First time using their services and had an extremely negative experience

- Tax accountant did not review any receipts, missing some items that I could have claimed
- Charged an additional $10 to preform cents/km calculations (which is just one number times another)
- Did not receive physical or electronic copy of invoice and had to call up to have a copy sent
- Could not provide basic answers to questions regarding outstanding negative tax balance

Overall the appointment cost $179 for 30mins and the tax accountant could not have put any less effort into the appointment despite the price. I would have been able to get more money back if I had preformed the tax return at home given what was missed, so I spend $179 to get less money back from the tax return, than I would have got doing it by myself at home – I spend $179 to get less money. So in Summary the biggest issues I've had are as follows:

- Lack of care: not sending invoices, not refilling paper to provide physical copy despite dead office, not checking receipts when people trust your expertise

- Lack of understanding: no understanding or insight was offered beyond surface level information, and no clarity was offered in regards to negative tax balance. I understand the exact answer is not always easily disenable, but suggesting some common reasons is what I expect at a minimum, using cooperate speak to say “ I don’t know” is not good enough for the price.

- Uncomfortable vibe: the atmosphere of the building is rather cold and dark and unsettling, and the way you are treated makes it seem like they want to get you in and out as soon as possible, even when there is no one there waiting to have an appointment next

I would suggest to anyone that requires the use of a tax agent to look somewhere else, you'll get more value by folding a $100 bill into a paper aeroplane and then lighting it on fire then spending it here, at least you’ll get some entertainment value from that.

They are very friendly and professional. They share tax tips and avices to make your tax return easier.
I was not organised and didn't have my receipts. They taught me to use ATO app to keep the receipts, and organise them under different catergory. This year, my tax return is much higher.

Definitely will come back and recommond it to my freinds.
