WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!! Would never recommend anyone to ever use Hughes Lawyers, we used them as our conveying for selling and purchasing our properties and it was a complete nightmare. We even had comments from our purchasers solicitors saying they were a complete joke. Communication was terrible, they were charging us extra fees left right and centre and had to keep paying for extensions as they couldn't do the job properly. Ended up costing us more then using a top notch lawyer 🙁

VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND ESCALATING FEES
I received a promotional offer in the post for conveyancing. They were offering a flat fee of $395.00. As I was away, my secretary phoned office and spoke to Gina directly to ask her about the offer and told her that we had court orders in place and caveats to be lifted at settlement. My secretary was very clear that it may not be a straight forward settlement. Gina responded with, "that is fine, I deal in family law, don't worry about it the price is the price". Great I thought, I had spent enough money on lawyers in the past 15 months. We had the opportunity to settle early and both parties were agreeable. I was then informed there is early settlement fee of $220. I spoke to another lawyer about this and they had never heard of early settlement fee, certainly not when both parties agree. I called the real estate agent who has been in realestate 15 years plus and she too have never heard of such a thing. My buyers agreed to pay this. We had a last minute hick up from my ex partners side and the settlement was delayed a week. I was then informed that due to the "extra work" there were going to be extra charges of $330. This was despite the previous agreement to the promo price being "the price". I agreed to the extra $330, though I could not see where this extra work was that she was claiming was outside the scope of the standard conveyancing process. Settlement went through all ok the following week and then with out any further consult or letting me know about extra fees, $1646 dollars was taking from my settlement funds when I had only agreed to $395 the promo amount and the extra $330. When I challenged it Gina denied agreeing to a fixed price or any promo price at all. I then asked for a detailed report of the charges to validate the excess fees charges and I then received a further grossly inflated bill of $3258. I was even charged $15.00 to send me text message saying settlement was completed. When trying to get back my over charge of $600 I am was meet unreasonableness. As far as I am concerned I am still owed a refund of $600. I wish I had seen the Google reviews before hand as it appears I am not the only to have had such an experience. I wrote my review as a true and honest account of my experience with this firm. It is not intended to defamatory in anyway other than to help others make an informed decision and to make sure you get your costs in writing. After writing my review I was then threatened with a defamation suit if I did not take it down. I wonder if the same thing was done with the other customers how posted far worse reviews on here than mine.

I initially engaged Hughes Lawyers for a Conveyancing job because my Solicitor of 40 years retired.
Happily I found them to be competent , affable and didn't leave me feeling gyped. Since then they have handled two Estate matters ,new Wills and other Conveyancing.
I now see Hughes Lawyers as a great replacement and they have highlighted what a crusty old fart my old Solicitor was!
