BEWARE! It’s a catch.

Unfortunately my husband and I did not have a pleasant experience with IFP.
Here’s a snapshot of their lack of transparency with us.

“Firstly, it was agreed to have the advice/implementation fee deducted from our super. At that point in time, mynorth super was not mentioned to us and we didn’t know about the platform, in addition, it was not specified in the education packaged supplied to us what super would be used for deducting their fees, which lead us to believe that the fees would be deducted from our existing superfund.
(During the meeting I actually said: if it’s possible to deduct the fees from our current super, then Why not ? - it was a chance for them to correct me and clarify)
It was a shock to us when, in our last meeting, it was said that the funds could only be debited from mynorth platform. I truly believe that this information was omitted from us and, for some reason, not disclosed in the first meeting.
We’re now locked into an agreement we DID NOT want to sign or even had a chance to read thoroughly before signing it. (Product pushing?)
Secondly, it was said in our last meeting that mynorth platform would be cheaper than our existing superfund. After speaking to one of their staff on the phone, it was mentioned that the only fee slightly cheaper than hostplus was the ‘investment management cost’?
Everything else; admin fee, membership fee, buy cost etc were higher than hostplus.
Moreover, there’s no guarantee that the platform will outperform the costs.

The reason that lead me contacting Illawarra financial planning in the first place, was solely for the purpose of ‘re-organising our financial life and re-prioritise our financial goals' which we achieved a positive outcome.
We were seeking advice on property purchasing which was pushed aside and we did not intend to invest.
In summary;
- we felt rushed and unable to make an informed decision as we were not given the time and opportunity to read the statement of advice and PDS thoroughly before signing the SOA.
- we felt misled by omitted information
- lack of clear, concise and effective disclosure”

Due to misleading/omitting information they hook you into an agreement with no way out but adhering to their product to pay for their fees.
We do not recommend their advice services due to lack of transparency.
