This place is terrible... it is a health hazard! Dirt patches all over the walls, cobwebs around the light, smoke detector and above the air-conditioning. Mould and wet patches all over the roof. The bathroom is bigger than the actual 'living space'. You can hear every conversation happening within a 500m radius.

Customer service needs some work.

Being told $40 for a gym pass for each swing is odd. There's a rec room with a bench and a few weights which is free and wasn't explained on check in.

Being unaware of airport shuttle timetables is surprising.

Rooms had ensuite facilities, but the sliding doors can be noisy for NS and there's a fair few gaps in the foil that lets light in.

Food was good, but not a whole lot of options like you would at other accommodation sites.

I don't usually post negative comments but..... I work all through the WA region and always try and get a coffee or something in the towns I roll through and Kambalda is no different. This place had a great big advertisement for coffee so I thought I'd try it and can safely say it was absolutely disgusting. First try was too cold so the lad made us another and the second try was basically in the bin..... Don't bother.

First off, ignore the website, very misleading with it's white wash of a very average experience...
As usual, it's the people that make the difference. The staff, from room cleaners and kitchen staff to the front desk, are friendly and helpful people.
Take into account that you are miles from anywhere, then you'll appreciate the little extras. The front office and convenience shop have your essentials, along with plenty of munchies. Something you can't get across the road at another camp.
The 24 hr take away is a welcome option when the main kitchen is closed.
The site has tennis and basketball courts, two gyms.
The "tavern" is quite nice, with newish decor and a great selection of games, table soccer, pool tables, table tennis, large wall snakes and ladders, and wall mounted scrabble.
However, it's worth noting that alcohol sales from the tavern, "The Underground", are only available to employees of St. Ives. Disappointing as an employee of another company. Still you are allowed to enter and enjoy the games
The main kitchen do their best but once again, keep in mind the remote location and you'll be grateful for tasty options even if you think it lacks variety. The truth is Chef does well with Asian food choices, and some European cuisine, and seafood options too

Dinner is really good... however extremely limited selection for crib, I had to drive into Kambalda to purchase lunch. Rooms are large and clean however there isn't enough laundry machines for everyone, byo washing powder. Gym is new but doesn't have a toilet and you need to pay $20 membership and $20 deposit.

A bit of a dump really. Food is really quite bad and there really is not much of a selection. Staff really don't want to help with any concerns you might have regarding the accommodation. No WiFi which is surprising in the year 2023 and TV's are tiny with poor sound. Not bad gym facilities but it costs $40 to get in the door. Lots of parking available although the roads are in a horrific condition. I've stayed at worse but definitely stayed at better

Room was clean, tidy, and functional without being anything exceptional. Camp appears tired and in need of an upgrade, but it works. ESS staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Food (dinner) was exceptional - 7 consecutive nights of excellent food! Superb! Crib though, was fairly standard..
