It took almost six months for the QLD Legal Services Commission to respond to an email requesting information to assist in submitting a complaint about a solicitor. During that time I left multiple messages via phone (as no one answered the phone) following up however my calls were not returned

Total waste of time! Had me jumping through hoops getting all kinds of paperwork then made some lame excuses why they're not going to investigate " you didn't get the paper we wanted " so we're not going to investigating & dismissed my complaint. Don't waste your time. They're more focused on how to FOB you off with excuses than actually giving any assistance. If you do submit a complaint prepare to do your own investigation because they're not do anything but give you reasons for why they're NOT going to do anything & good luck getting a name of who your communicating with after you file a complaint.. Inquiries women was ok (Rhonda) But the " nameless " per investigation officer was terrible. I was asked if I could wait until they're not so busy with other complaints end the end of last year..I kept submitting evidence against a group of dubious Gold Coast law firms, that helped themselves to my property.. & guess what ... Nothing ...no update ,. just silence...
Great at Fobbing people off tho...

Well it appears I am making the same comments as everyone else here about the LSC.
After phoning the Legal Services Commission and speaking to one of their officers and being told I had grounds to lodge a complaint I lodged a complaint against a lawyer on 16 March 2023.
To date the complaint has not been resolved by the LSC. The complaint was due to my former lawyer dropping me as a client less than a business days' notice or twenty-four hours prior to a scheduled mention. Being dropped at such late notice forced me to catch a red-eye flight from Perth to Brisbane to represent myself in court the next day. I represented myself and successfully resolved the matter with the same material evidence my lawyer had for weeks.
I invested over $4,500 into the lawyer, only to be dropped without just cause or reasonable notice. The lawyer and her manager (firm partner) claimed that I had complained about her professionalism on several occasions and this was grounds for termination of the retainer. I complained to her manager on two occasions and made reasonable complaints, one being that she had appeared in a mention then took over forty-eight hours to update me on what occurred in that mention.
The Acting Commissioner for the LSC determined based on my lawyer's response and my own to the complaint that the relationship had broken down between the lawyer and i and that was grounds to be determined. I strongly reject this is sufficient to terminate a client's retainer. I have asked for the LSC to reconsider their complaint outcome and supported my rejection of their outcome with evidence from their website and the Queensland Law Society's.
To terminate a client a lawyer must have 'just cause' and provide 'reasonable notice' as per the Queensland Law Society's guidance statement for legal services professionals. The fact that the LSC initially determined that they lawyer had grounds based on the relationship breaking down due to myself making complaints to her manager is outrageous. As a paying customer/client you have the right to voice your dissatisfaction in a service you are paying for.
I am still waiting on an outcome of my reconsideration, although the last contact I had with the LSC I received the same response I always do when I request an update. "Short staffed, people are on leave, had turnover."
It is shocking this is the organisation acting as the regulator for Queensland's legal service professionals. It is quite clear from how the partner and the firm responded to me notifying them of the complaint to the LSC they were not worried.

Solicitor BRADLEY MUNT Redbank Plains Qld got justice at last!
Difficult jobs for LSC. However in 2000 I spent days submitting emails, & proof in my opinion of Solicitor BRADLEY MUNT'S pathetic overall unprofessional illegal behaviour to my brother & I - totally ignoring us for 7 months.
All his reviews claimed the same.
In 2 2024 LSC advised me Brad Munt has now been disbarred at last via QCAT.
GREAT!
I was disappointed however my evidence in 2000 didn't weigh in as it was all the SAME reasons he was dismissed 3 years later; & how many more complaints later?
Confusing how LSC final decision that I was not the Client & they would not make a decision, not enough proof & just leave the case open. I was originally told by them, being an Executor of the will made me the Client, eventhough my bro & I both requested Bradley Munt liaise with me ONLY, but mail ONLY be sent to my brother.
Mmmm.

Well, why bother after my initial attempts at contact for assistance? What a farce! And reading other reviews also validates why I can’t wait to get out of this disgraceful state. I have suffered so much corruption here on the Sunshine Coast, I couldn’t put myself through anymore. The Qld justice? system makes you ashamed to call yourself Australian.

I requested help from the QLD Legal Services, due to a Lawyer in QLD disappearing with all the $450,000 moneys from a Professional Negligence. After trying for 3 years to locate this Lawyer to no avail, I contacted the Legal Services. Even they could not help me out and wanted more evidence. If I had more evidence I would not have contacted them, they could not help out and gave me the run around. I don’t see the reason why they should be around at all if they can not help individuals who are suffering due to the Lawyer negligence or disappearing act. QLD Legal Services and the Law Society are a complete waste of time and Tax payers money who have no power to do anything.

Called repeatedly no one answered. Pre recorded Message says operators are busy call back later. No option to wait on hold. Disgusting service seems intentional to protect corrupt cops & make sure you can’t put in complaints on officers or obtain body cam footage

My experience of using the QLD Legal Services Commission, was very disappointing. While they claim on their website to, "provide users of legal services a timely, effective, fair and reasonable means of redress for complaints and to promote, monitor and enforce appropriate standards of conduct in the provision of legal services", my experience was very different. They took over a year to review my case and provided an overly legalistic response which was neither timely or fair as the whole process seemed to be biased towards believing the many false claims made by the legal firm that I was complaining about. My experience was that you either need to be a lawyer or be prepared to spend potentially thousands of dollars on legal fees engaging a lawyer to put in your claim if you want any chance of a fair hearing.
