Nice coffee shop overlooking Moreton Bay. This place is situated high on the hill on Eagle Terrace, other side of the road has a fairly steep drop from the footpath, with trees all the way down to the foreshore walkway. Parking is ok on the road but gets very hard at peak (Sat / Sun mornings etc). The premises is super clean and tidy, and has a really nice atmosphere. There is seating both inside and out on the footpath. Staff are professional, very polite and service is generally pretty quick. There is a wide variety of food options, and you can customise etc, love the eggs Bene' it has come out perfect every time with eggs cooked - but nice and runny on the inside not cooked through (for those that are fussy about that). If your looking for nice coffee, the staple flat white has always come out decent. aka not boiling / too cold, burnt or bitter. Great spot for a catch up or just sit and watch the bay with a nice cup or drink. Grab the window seats or outside tables for the view which is well worth the effort. This would be a spot to watch the full moon rise over the Bay at certain times of the month. Just a really great spot.

Best coffee I’ve had in Sandgate. Good quality food made well. Inside and outside seating. Good selection of food on offer. Very expensive breakfast food. Great location. Quite refreshing to not have a EFTPOS surcharge. We will be back.

I really enjoyed my breakfast here after a walk along the beach. I was glad that I rang and booked a table in advance as it was on a Saturday. To my delight, we were placed next to the window with a view. Jenny who took our orders were attentive. My bacon was crispy as requested. Totally a bliss and will recommend this place to others. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

Met my Mum from Redcliffe here in Sandgate. We heartily enjoyed our delicious waffles and pots of jasmine green tea. What a gorgeous view too! We loved every minute of our visit!
Probably need a little ramp into the entrance, that was all.

Went for a Saturday morning walk along Lover's Walk and ended up at Matthew Thomas cafe'. A welcoming and warm feel to the place. I loved the decor, high ceilings and position with a view through the trees of the sea. The service was quick and personablie. The menu is fairly extensive and reasonably priced (maybe a bit on the high side). Having said that, the portions were generous and well prepared. We loved our meal and the coffee was great.

Had an amazing view of the water, sitting inside but at an open window getting the benefit of fresh air and a gentle breeze. The choice of food was a touch limited, but I think most people would find something to suit. I enjoyed a simple meal of sourdough toast and avocado, and the best strawberry thick shake I have had in a long time - creamy and full of flavour. My friend enjoyed a chicken burger and chips, with a portion so large she could not finish it all.
The atmosphere is relaxed/beachside and the service we enjoyed today was attentive, without being intrusive. Our meal was ready quickly and we felt able to take our time and enjoy the food, location and atmosphere. Will definitely return.

This is our local cafe and are so lucky that it is. Fantastic coffee. Do yourself a favour and get the rosti for breakfast, or a freshly baked muffin. And book ahead and ask for one of the tables with with the ocean view.
