I was in business for over 12 years and a mall closure in Townsville, slowed foot traffic into the business and put me deep into the red. Rent fell behind along with many other bills and finally the landlord decided to close the doors on me. I went back to work to try to pay the bills but I could't keep up and the debt collectors were crawling all over me, daily.
After speaking to my Accountant and seconded by another, I was recommended to contact Nicholls and Co and declare bankrupt. While I never thought I would be in this position I was very concerned about how I was going to be treated by the public, a Trustee and/or by previous debtors. The big surprise is that Nicholls and Co. have been incredibly helpful and supportive. They display empathy to my situation and have assisted me get through this with guidance in everything that I have asked, from travel restrictions and conditions, family member additions, car purchases and any wages I have earned. I always get a fast response on any inquiries I make. I also do not have debt collectors stressing me out anymore (Nicholls and Co look after them).
Although I never expected to be in this position, I am glad I declared bankrupt and used Nicholls and Co. as I am finally moving forward and getting on with my life! I'd like to take this opportunity to express my experience.
In 2016 I found myself in position where medically I was diagnosed with a condition that was serious and long term , in effort to continue being productive and meeting my financial commitments I undertook an oppurtunity to become self employed , though anyone attempting to be a small business owner faces difficulties , my medical condition deteriorated more quickly than anticipated and I was no longer able to meet my financial commitments ,.

I was then faced with limited options , and I explored all of them , before reaching the difficult decision that bankruptcy was the only option I had available to me . no one undergoes this experience without going through a tremendous amount of anxiety and stress and a feeling of failure to some extent .

I was put in contact with Nicholls and company , from the very first time I had contact with this company I was made to feel comfortable , I was never made to feel anything other than a valued client , the correspondence between us was extraordinary, emails , letters everything was delivered in a very professional manner and time frame .

My questions , my responsibilities were all explained to me ( even though at times I may have been a little slow) at no time during the process did I ever feel as though I was alone , I spoke personally with Mr.Nicholls initially and he explained the process to me , he then allocated me my own personal contact within the firm to look after my situation and be the contact for any further queries .

This at times has been invaluable and the connection between myself and my point of contact has been tremendous, again being thoughtful ,but factual.

Outstanding assistance.
I am an accountant but not experienced in BR so when assisting a client I spoke to Slade. It was apparent from the info I gave him at the start that there would be no fees earned by Nichols & Co but Slade contacted me with more queries and was unbelievably helpful. He answered my clients main query, spent time explaining aspects of the process and referred me to a third party who could assist with lodgement of the documents for a low fee.
