I engaged with Patrick Smith for my ongoing family law matters since 2015 when he work for another firm. The last rime I used Patrick’s Legal services was in 2019. My last experience did not go as I expected. I was quoted for a service and was told by Patrick to achieve the goals I wanted it would cost a certain amount and would take over 18 months to achieve. He assured me it was definitely achievable and I advised him that I would not pursue the matter if I wouldn’t achieve the particular goals that we both agreed where fair and reasonable. On the first day of court proceedings it was very clear that the goal we both agreed upon was not achievable and matters quickly concluded. I felt mislead by Patrick Smith and although there was no need to engage in a Barrister which he said would be required in the original quote I was outraged by the bill I received. I questioned the bill and expressed my concerns in detail and I only herd back from him about 10 months later with an unreasonable response for the delay. I replied back to his email and once again no response until just recently from a seperate lawyer threatening legal action and paying for further cost that will be charged to him by his law firm. The demand for urgent payment of this unreasonable amount within 14 days is totally stressing me out especially know that two years have passed and I am living on my own on Centrelink benefits.
I had asked for legal advice when I received the bill and was told that it would be unlikely for Patrick to be able to achieve what we originally agreed upon for the amount he first quoted but would more realistically be 8 times that amount.

I feel that I have been tricked into proceeding with Patrick Smith and to be given a bill that was more than what was originally quoted with less work done and less achieved.

I have been on Centrelink payments since the start of the year and as a single father unable to pay Patrick’s highly inflated bill and find it incredibly stressful.

I would not recommend Patrick Smith due to the experience I have explained above and falsely giving me hope in achieve an outcome that was never achievable. I feel that Patrick Smith lied to me so I would agree to engage with his services knowing that I would not if he told me the truth.
