Queensland law society
Wow I tried to call through this morning and was hung up on twice by the same ignorant person I don't know if maybe she has dramas going on but I didn't cause them just needed a number for a lawyer that actually specialises in my specific matter . But if you can just hang up On everyone. No complaint , approach or conclusion can be made I guess . Great ethical standards. With no morals . Keep up the work you so admire. ?

I did have solicitors shelly Johnson who was incompetent. Forgot to do actions and refused to act and lodge documents in the court costing about 2 months to delay in selling assets like house etc that cost money in reduced prices. She admitted being forgetful. Her boss gave the work to a Michael white who charged to look at the file and couldn’t believe she had not done her job. The boss john mclaughlin rang 2 executors not the 3 and asked to continue and not worry about the 3rd executor as only 2 needed to give permission. And to refuse to supply accounts from 2021 to 6/2022 and refuse to supply itemised accounts. And they were over charged by about $1000 including interest eventhough he refused to give accounts after he was asked in 2021 they will be paid immediately if itemised accounts were given.
A new solicitor Geoff Melvin said they were not competent. But he refused to pay the correct amounts and paid the amount of mclaughlin as he didn’t want to worry about overcharges. An arrangement he made with mclaughlins he was told to get itemised accounts and give to all 3 executors. He refused again instructions. He had shares to be sold for 6 months and should know he couldn’t sell these without a broker but after 6 months charging a broker sold them in 1 day. More misconduct. He said if 1 executor wanted a new solicitor he wouldn’t allow the account to be paid from the estate. He refused to allow compensation for hundreds of dollars of work to be reimbursed and over 3000 hours of time spent on the house to get it ready for sale. He refuses to do as he is instructed and was asked by law society to lodge a complaint against mclaughlin solicitors but refused. He refuses to do anything but what he wants and not in the best interest of the executors and my mothers estate. After 12 months its still a mess.
We tried a new solicitor bickell and Mackenzie but they said they knew how to do estates but found out they do not and after bring told by Geoff Melvin he wont pay their account to act for an executor they said they cant do anymore work as don’t understand. They were given details before being asked to act and so as to not waste time and money and not to contact unless can do the work. Was also told this on the phone in the first instant. But they said they could but unfortunately don’t understand estate matters and they gave advise to collect funds from the estate which now turns out to be untrue.
Seems solicitors are all allowed to be uncompetent and misconduct is allowed. Maybe its what solicitors are like under the law society rules today. Pity as was once a respected industry.
Anyone should write reviews and send details to the ccc and opposition leader and as many complaints will eventually get those involved arrested and charged.
All this is condoned by the commissioner and president of the law society. And qld labor government
