Big rooms with all the essentials. Great restaurant with outside deck and spectacular views. Meals good value and good selection of beers and wines. Staff very helpful. Was very surprised at the level of service and accommodation in such a remote spot

A fantastic hotel. Such a handy location and the pub meals were so big and service was great. So nice sitting outside on the verandah watching the world go by. The breakfast was fantastic. |Everything was so clean. Rooms were a generous size with plenty of towels.

9 of us Local Islanders went to the Grand Hotel to celebrate a birthday had drinks at the pub. We sat at the smoking area having a laugh and the barman came to collect drinks and told us to lower our voices as we were to loud. It was 7:55pm Sunday 17th August 2024. I asked the duty manager at the time why did we have to lower our voices she replied because there were guest upstairs I replied but this is a pub and you have musical bingo on Fridays and it's very rowdy why do we have to lower our voices . The duty manager then told us it was last drinks at the bar for us. But she still served the other group of patrons who was sitting beside us (white people). Very unfair. So don't think you can go to the pub on Sunday and laugh you have to sit quiet.

Fantastic!!
A really great view . Beer so cold they froze the pipes and couldn't get the beer through. Stubbies were ok . Good meals from an extensive menu. Do not try and order meals before 12 .... not even at 11.59 .They will only take orders at 12.01.

On a day trip from the mainland, we had a drink at the top pub and then went to the Grand for lunch because they had a couple of gluten free options for my partner.

I ordered the "full rack of ribs with chips and slaw" according to the menu and got what you see in the photo. The ribs were dry and tasteless, obviously cooked the day before and the slaw was a salad with no dressing.

I questioned the kitchen staff about it and he just dismissed me and said that was it. Really disappointed. The meals we saw at the Top Pub looked way better.

Great view from the Grand but the food and service were below average when there were only 15 to 20 people in the place.

Quaint hotel handy to main street on Thursday Island. Stairs a bit difficult to negotiate but ground floor options available. Fantastic breakfast offerings
