Don’t even waste your time here. My confidentiality was breached by a family lawyer and I was given the wrong advice although apparently according to the act law society, particularity Gavin who I have been dealing with, has said I do not have a case?

How is breaching someone’s personal information not a case?

I was unable to get through to anyone and had some concerns about a law firm. I finally got a call back and then 2 months later a letter stating my complaint was dismissed but interestingly enough no one no one spoke to me about it. Clients are vulnerable and it appeared to me as a client that no one was interested in my version and the complaint was dismissed with only the version of the lawyer. I would like to recommend that these complaints are actually taken seriously and some sort of conversation had or it just feels like professional back up. After quite a traumatic experience quite a disappointing, dismissive result. I am unsure as to why professional regulations exist for lawyers to protect clients when the client is not involved in the process. Apparently my concerns don’t matter as that’s how it appeared from the response after 8 weeks. Hugely disappointing. Everyone deserves to be listened to and being dismissed only further traumatises a client.

Simply wastage of time.
The lawyer allocated to me was not properly listening to me and was frequently attending phone calls on his mobile (at least 2 calls were attended during our 8-10 minutes conversation).
He showed unawareness of the process for which the advice was being sought for. He didn't ask even a single question to understand the problem and never asked for seeing any relevant documentation. Our 15 minutes appointment just finished within less than 10 minutes with no proper outcome.

Useless service - don’t bother complaining about a lawyer to them, they don’t even bother calling you to ask questions, just send responses in legal jargon, designed to protect all their uni mates in the territory. Adero law and the law society has left me with a DEEEEEP distrust for anyone who has a legal degree!

It took a long time for me to finally get to the person in-charge. It was a bit frustrating but in the end I am happy with the advice provided. The first contact person (the one who answered the phone) needs more skills training though on phone etiquette and not just immediately pass on the other line the call as if she just wants to get rid of the people calling their office. But Linda and Robert are great.

Totally a waste of time.  I am trying to put my complaint to a legal practitioner who gave me wrong & misleading advice.  They claimed they have resolved to dismiss my complaint pursuant to section 412(1)(a) of the legal professional Act 2006.

412 - Dismissal of complaint
(1) After finishing an investigation of a complaint against an Australian legal practitioner, the relevant council may dismiss the complaint if satisfied that
- (a) there is no reasonable likelihood that the practitioner will be found guilty by the ACAT of either unsatisfactory professional conduct or professional misconduct; or

Do not waste your time with this organisation. Self regulation is a total failure.

I contacted the Law Society about an Estate issue. They said their lawyers don't do pro bono or offer 15 minute free legal advice consultations. They referred me to Legal Aid. Legal Aid only deal in criminal matters as they stated.
The Law Society are giving out bad and misleading advice from the get go, I really would not want anyone to contact this neofascist society as they only seem to offer bad advice.

I contacted the law society to complain about how outrageously I was dealt with by a Lawyer and QC in my family court matter. I was threatened into signing an agreement that I thought I had to sign (they implied this) and I had no legal representation at the time. Basically they never wanted to hear anymore. The whole legal system needs to have a Royal commission but this will never happen as they would somehow stop the process anyhow. Total scam.
