Despite being the only pharmacy in the Torres Strait, they are absolutely ruthless with closing times.

After slashing my foot on coral, I 'ran' straight from the jetty to the pharmacy to try to get there before they closed, at 5:15pm on a Friday, to get antiseptic and antibiotics.

The caucasian pharmacist seemed quite disinterested. It seemed like I was an inconvenience to her, keeping her back at work for 5m longer than absolutely necessary. She was reluctant to offer basic clinical advice.

If there was an alternative day/night pharmacy elsewhere, fair enough, but these guys are the only option.

I feel sorry for locals that have to rely on essential services with such unhelpful opening hours like this. This is not the way to close the gap.
