I popped into the Medical and Counselling building to collect something and was impressed by the helpful and friendly staff at the service counter.

The building has easy wheelchair access.

The campus grounds are beautifully maintained, from gardens to walkways to roads.

The university (popular as β€œUC”) has a great atmosphere and it caters to both the domestic and international students. With a disarming set of faculties and facilities, it is one of the best in Australia.

I am undergoing my two year masters here and I am having a good time.

Impressive facility with amble and easy access to disabled parking. Being a rehab facility, it had wide corridors, doorways that were wife enough for wheelchairs. I was impressed with the electronic clocks outside rooms that appear to have booking details. Just did not understand why there was a main reception, which direct you to another reception to check-in for appointment and then you go to another waiting room.

Enrolled in Master of Counselling in 2022, when enrolling student enrolment services advised that students studying online would be supported by tutors and student support services to help ensure students are successful. Fast forward, in 2022-2023 I never any conversations, correspondence from tutors and/or student support services when I was failing to submit coursework due to personal circumstances. I understand I am an adult completing a Master's degree, however, when a student submits an extension request for assignments, receives the extension but never submits the assignments, one would think that this would trigger some sort of response from the University, especially when one is studying counselling. I had previously completed a Bachelor Degree online, tutors knew students by name and checked in when the student was not engaged.

Tutors/Lecturers show no interest in getting to know students, the course work differs depending on which tutor you get, the information provided for assignments is unclear and tutors are also unclear on information they provide. Attended 3 different tutorials and all of them provided different information on the same coursework that was suppose to be covered. Some tutors just like talking about themselves.

I would not recommend online study through this University as you will receive no assistance, guidance or help if you are struggling but the University will be happy to charge you over $3,000 per unit. I am unsure how this University attains high ranking or good reviews. I did not end up completing my Degree and am glad I did not end up forking out over $40,000 for non-education.

We were VERY disappointed with UC.
Our son arrived at the beginning of last year (2023) and booked accommodation on campus. My husband and son arrived on campus to book in and were disgusted with the filthy state of his assigned 5 bedroom unit. There was milk in the fridge that had expired months before, there were mouse traps around the unit, broken glass and rotten food in the kitchen. The bathroom was atrocious. The door of the unit, which was located public facing road, was propped open, so anyone could access the unit.
While we’re grateful that student services relocated him to another unit (only after physically seeing the mess) but unfortunately our concerns didn't stop there.
Despite having a full study load our son only had ONE face to face class a week. He was away from home, 18 yrs old and little local support. Having face to face lessons is very important for young people - it gives them connection to others and a sense of belonging. We didn't know this, and our son was reluctant to let us know he was struggling, and when we enquired at UC we were rebuffed as he was over 18. It seems that UC are focussed on the bottom line, not positive student outcomes.
Our son left the uni after 6 mths, came home and worked for the remainder of the year, and is now happily settled at another university. It is the best education choice he has ever made.

I have found this University to be very focused on quality teaching & course delivery, and very supportive of students. It appears to be improving very quickly with plenty of new construction going on around the campus. My bachelors of Nursing have just started, and I am very grateful about that. Just a quick note for international students, please don't go and waste your time and energy in the fake institues around canberra such as CIET who will waste your money only and give out fake information. Go for the good Universities, trust yourself and study what is best for you.
Thanks

All the lecturers are not very good at teaching at all....they might be the intelligent person but they don't know a single thing about teaching... They will take a week to teach abcd and they will take a week to teach how to drive a car so that means their material and time of teaching is really badly managed.

They just come in the lecture which is supposed to be 2 hr..... only only concerned about covering the material.....just start talking like a monotonous way.... sorry but 100%true ...many times impossible to understand accent. And lecturers whose accent is understandable they just talk casually in a very unstructured way which shows they did not prepare beforehand. ....

they don't know what the next slide will be even though they are using those same slides for several years with some minor changes. Which clearly shows their lack of prep and lack of structured material before the lecture.

And it happened to me many times if I interrupt them and ask a question what the reply is ...'"rude reply ASK AT THE END OF THE LECTURE"

Like what I paid you $84000 for this 3 year bull Surprisingly...they just finish the lecture in a very monotonous way in 1.5hr and just go home.

They might be the most intelligent person in their field but LITERALLY THEY GIVE ZERO concern about teaching.

you can just pay 50$ and buy a course online and learn 100 times more than these lecturers as online is very well structured.

because in my experience they won't teach you well... tutors and lecturers are (most of the time) working on their own things/projects and consider tutoring as a past time/ break activity so they don't really care about students in my opinion.

If you can find a better option go for that...if you just want a degree then it's okay.

But it is very sad that you just pay around maybe $80 000 just to get a degree as you have to learn from external resources.

But if you are coming here thinking you will learn from the best lecturers I tell you what you are making a mistake and coming to the wrong place this place is not for learning.

AND this review is coming from a student with highest ATAR (what you call in Australia).

I agree with all the 1 star reviews, and whatever those 4-5 star reviews all of them they talk about good infrastructure.
For gods sake I don't give a concern... about infrastructure and all when all of the teacher aren't skilled in teaching and motivated to teach.

I can study in a tin shed and a oil lamp beside me for light as long as the teacher who is teaching me knows how to give his knowledge to his students in a good way and is motivated to teach...

NOT like just reading like a news reporter several years old slides and then just go home.

YOU ARE not teaching here ABCD in a first grade where if a student miss it ...a student has several years to catch up..

You are teaching here the highest level of education, which students will require just before stepping into the real world. And they have paid HEFTY AMOUNT OF $$ to you....
So put more thought into it.

Note: lecturers are not bad human beings they want their students to pass, however they don't know how to teach or are disinterested in teaching. Universities should spend more on training them rather than building different unnecessary things.
