I have recently have had to seek support from WKB and had wonderful support and advocacy from Sally and Jess. After two years on income protection claim due to an illness sustained whilst in employment that was progressively getting worse, I decided to make a total and permanent disability claim for a lump sum benefit that would enable me to focus on my health and a steady recovery until retirement age. With a significant number of years to see out till retirement, I knew that I needed advice with my claim to ensure a successful outcome. Not knowing much about permanent disability pay outs, I started looking online for a lawyer. I wasn’t exactly sure who I was looking for, but I was worried about the cost for legal advice and not being in a position to pay for advice upfront, I chose a practice that offered advice on a “no win no fee” basis.

After an initial discussion with a lawyer from the practice I had selected, a comprehensive strategy was devised which I was extremely comfortable with, however when I think back over my experience, what I remember being told time and again was whilst I had “reasonable prospects” I “couldn’t be guaranteed a successful claim.”

Two very frustrating and traumatic years on from making my claim, it is the words of that lawyer that “I couldn’t be guaranteed a successful claim” which triggered a change of advice. Along the way I was beginning to have doubts and concerns with my legal counsel and so began the online search for a new lawyer. That’s when I came across WKB. They “specialised” in permanent disability claims which is what I needed after two extremely anxious years of treading water.

After a first but detailed phone meeting with a member of the WKB team, I was informed that my claim would be discussed with their Managing Partner, Warren Bennett who would be in touch shortly thereafter. Warren rang almost at once, and he simply understood where I was at – he was my saviour as well as highly intelligent and intuitive, confident, assertive but extremely down to earth. I knew the moment I spoke with Warren that I was speaking with an experienced “specialist” who had success in getting claims approved. This is exactly what I needed. Warren knew exactly what needed to be done to get my claim approved and he did so in a very short period. I attribute my successful claim to Warren’s skill and ability to negotiate successfully.
